Nokia N8 - Photos, Specs, Initial Impressions, First Look

One of the phones that were unveiled to APAC media at Nokia Connection 2010 is Nokia N8.

The Nokia N8 is the Finnish giant's first 12-megapixel camera phone and their first handset to run on the new Symbian^3 platform. The phone packs a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and Carl Zeiss optics and supports WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1, and 10.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity. Truly a multimedia phone, N8 is capable of recording 720p HD videos at 25fps and comes with 16GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card.

We've yet to hear word from Nokia on N8's SRP and release date in the Philippines. Off hand, however, we know that it's already set for worldwide release come Q3 of this year.

In the meantime, to get an idea of the phone's actual size and design identity and of how well it fits in the hand, check out these Nokia N8 photos that I took straight from Nokia Connection 2010 showcase held in Conrad Centennial Hotel in Singapore last June 14:

TP Initial Impressions:

Nokia N8 looks and feels every bit a flagship release. Clad in anodized aluminum, the phone feels very solid in the hand and exudes an aura of corporate elegance. Its 3.5-inch touchscreen, on the other hand, looked sharp from the short time I spent with the device while response to touch gestures was instantaneous.

What I particularly like about N8's design identity is that it speaks to you about what the phone can offer. The chrome accents, the color options and the form factor itself give the impression that Nokia N8 is a more-than-capable multimedia device. It's kinda like just looking at a tiger and knowing that it's built for the kill or looking at a Panasonic Toughbook and knowing for sure that it could take a beating.

I've yet to receive an N8 review unit from Nokia so I can't really share much about its features and specifications as yet. I'm actually very excited to try out the handset and share feedback on the immersive experience.
