UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2011 Takes Over Twitter! Hashtag Becomes Top Trending Topic!

It has begun!

The best cheerdance groups from the eight UAAP schools - composed of Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, Adamson University, University of the East, Far Eastern University and National University - have started to battle it out for the top spot in this year's Samsung-sponsored UAAPCDC being held today at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum!

And as expected, due to young Filipinos' strong presence on Twitter, the hashtag related to this year's UAAP Cheerdance Competition (#UAAPCDC) has achieved natural top trending status on the popular short messaging site:

uaap cheerdance

As earlier explained on TP, a keyword trends on Twitter if it gets a considerable volume of related tweets. As yet, Twitter hasn't disclosed its exact metrics for determining or choosing trending topics.

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition is a one-day annual event of the UAAP or University Athletic Association of the Philippines for cheerleading. This year, as in the past few years, Studio 23 received the television coverage rights of the annual UAAP Cheerdance Competition.

Here are a few tweets pertaining to UAAPCDC 2011:

So which school am I rooting for? My alma mater, of course! Go Ateneo! One Big Fight! Though I have to admit UST and UP are real good and have always been top contenders for the CDC crown. :P
