Tech Tanod: Pinoys Hold Precinct Mapping Parties for 2010 Elections

Because a lot of Filipinos actually still long for clean, orderly and credible elections, efforts to make this happen should never be too hard to spot - online or offline.

Case in point: Tech Tanod

Spear-headed by Google Country Representative, Aileen Apolo, Tech Tanod - a precinct mapping party - aims to help Pinoy voters get more information about their voting precinct as early as now so they won't get lost looking for their precinct location on May 10. Tech Tanod likewise hopes to involve everyone in mapping precincts across the archipelago, which - I believe - greatly inculcates the value of and highlights the need for responsible citizenship and Pinoy Pride in this apparent political crossroad (naks!).

Precinct mapping is done via Google Find Your Precinct service.

Here's Aileen explaining what Tech Tanod is all about:

If you want you want to help the cause, you may head on over TP's FindYourPrecinct post and start pinning precinct locations on the map after reading the instructions.

Maraming salamat. :)
