Blackberry MAGNUM - TouchScreen and QWERTY Keypad Combined ! Specs, Photos, Video, Price

Take a look at this recently leaked photo of the yet-unreleased and yet-to-be-announced Blackberry Magnum :

It shares the form factor of both Blackberry Bold and Curve lines - marked by a large QWERTY keypad covering half of the front panel. Unlike the two lines though, Magnum needs neither a trackpad nor a trackball. Why? Magnum's 2.6 inches display is a capacitive touchscreen and below it, you can find a row of touch sensitive controls.

Here's an early hands-on video:

and the unofficial specs:

BlackBerry OS
624 MHz processor
2.6" TFT capacitive touchscreen, 65K colors 480 x 360 pixels
2 MP camera at the back @ 1600x1200 pixels with LED flash
Video recording
QWERTY keyboard
GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps
EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps
3G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps; HSUPA
Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP

microSD (TransFlash) supports up to 8GB

Here's a photo of the back of the phone without cover (lookie, there's the camera):

Although no press release has been heard from RIM, I believe Magnum will fill the gap between the Bold and the Storm lines. The upper half of Magnum's front panel hinting Storm, the lower half definitely Bold with the Chrome fretted keypad.

We've yet to hear official Magnum release date and pricing details from RIM. Please keep tuning in for those. (Off hand though, I think it will enter the market in Q2 2010 with a price tag of around Php 25,000 - Php 30,000.)

  1. This was just a prototype. RIM shelved this model and instead released the Bold 9700.
