Youtube: 15 Minutes, New Video Length Limit
As if alluding to Warhol-Catalogue's "15 Minutes of Fame" phrase, Youtube today bumped video length limit from 10 Minutes to 15 Minutes.
Increasing video length limit is actually the most requested feature by Youtube users -- but the team had to put its implementation on hold because of other projects that had to be done first.
Interestingly, when Youtube was launched in 2005, it didn't implement video length limits -- which some users took advantage of by illegally uploading copyrighted content. Youtube responded by creating the 10-minute limit, as well as adding new account types like director, musician, comedian and guru, which would require a few extra steps in the registration process, but would altogether remove the video time limit.
