Last June, TP let you in on the existence of a certain Samsung Corby Smartphone in Europe.
Today, we're telling you that that phone has already been quietly released in the Philippines under the name Samsung Galaxy 5 i5503.
Despite its relatively small footprint (measuring only 108 x 56 x 12.3 millimeters), Samsung Galaxy 5 nonetheless packs an impressive specifications-set. This Android 2.1 phone comes with a 600 MHz processor, 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, microUSB port, microSD card slot that supports up to 16GB and 3.5mm audio jack. Galaxy 5 also covers practically all connectivity options you'll need, specifically Wi-Fi with DLNA, 3G HSDPA, GPS with A-GPS and Bluetooth.
A number of authorized Samsung partner stores in Manila already have Samsung Galaxy 5 on their shelves. The phone comes with a price tag of roughly Php 11,400 -- making it one of the cheapest - if not THE cheapest - Android phone in the market today.
Hopefully TP gets hold of a unit soon so we can tell you if its any good. We're also excited to pit it against LG Optimus GT540; Should be an interesting match, don't you think?
