Bandila HotSeat Uses Facebook Fan Page as Venue for Filipinos to Get to Know National Elections Candidates Better

It used to be that when you have a question you want to ask candidates personally during national elections, you'd have to wait for the candidate to hold a campaign rally in your barangay, attend it then shoulder your way to the microphone for the Q&A portion.

Thanks to technology, the internet and traditional media's effective adoption of online social media, things are now starting to change for the better.

Case in point: ABS-CBN's Bandila HotSeat segment --

Bandila's HotSeat segment is designed to give Filipinos on Facebook a venue where they could ask their questions straight to any candidate being interviewed on the program. If you're on Facebook, you may participate in the segment by joining Bandila's Facebook Fan Page and posting your questions on the 'wall'. If your question gets picked by Bandila staff, it will be asked by either Ces Drilon or Henry Omaga-Diaz to the guest candidate during Bandila's live broadcast.

From what I observe, Bandila features questions that can lead the candidate on hotseat to clarify issues regarding his or her persona or image -- (not so much to expound on the candidate's take on national issues like poverty, corruption, etc.).

Watch this video showing Senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel answering questions on HotSeat to get an idea of how the segment works:

What are you waiting for? Join Bandila Fan Page and post your questions now!

    Dear Ces & Henry;
    Ang concern ko lang sa kung sino man ang naka schedule sa hot seat nyo na kandidato for tomorrow is ito about our environment maraming kandidato ang may adbokasiya about environment ito lang ang tanung ko anu ang kanilang puedeng gawin or solusyon sa lumalalang pag-bebenta ng ating mga isla sa ibang bansa na halos mapudpud na ang mga isla natin sa Pilipinas dahil binabawasan nila ito dinudurog nila ito tapos binibenta sa ibang bansa para mga construction project like ng aggregates and sands na nang gagaling yan sa ating mga bundok at mga karagatan tapos ibebenta nila ito sa mga bansa tulad ng micronesian and other part of asian country. Hindi po ito biro dahil ito binibenta po nila ito ng tole tolenada or gabu gabundok na bato at buhangin na nanggagaling sa ating kabundukan at karagatan sa aking palagay may malaking masamang epekto ito sa ating kalikasan kaya ito ang aking concern. Dahil dito po sa bansang kung sa-an ako ngayon ay mahigpit po ang batas nila tungkol sa kanilang kalikasan dito makabasag kalang ng isang maliit na corals milyong dollars na po ang babayaran mo di gaya dyan satin kahit pasabugan pa ang mga corals walang problema. Kung sino man ang makapagbibigay ng magandang kasagutan dito sa aking tanung ay susupurtahan ko po sa kanyang kandidatura dapat po malinaw na sagot at kapani-paniwala kasi matalino narin ang mga pinoy sa panahon ngayon. Yan lang po at maraming SALAMAT pagpala-in po tayong lahat ng ating diyos. Gumagalang at Rumirespeto sa inyo Lito Fidel from Mulanay, Quezon
