Samsung Galaxy Spica Philippines - Price, Specs, Initial Impressions

Samsung Galaxy Spica in the house!

Probably the most affordable Android phone out in the Philippines today, Samsung Galaxy Spica only costs Php 14,495 with Globe Prepaid and even comes FREE with Globe Postpaid Plan 1800. Want it contract-free? Spica, not bundled with any network services, goes as low as Php 13,500 at some authorized Samsung retailers.

First impressions:

In this day and age of overpriced smartphones, Samsung Galaxy Spica comes as a breath of fresh air. This phone offers top-notch multi-media features and connectivity options at a mid-range (almost entry level) price point.

Sure, it feels a tad plasticky and has very limited internal storage -- But when you consider that you're getting Android 2.1 Eclair OS run by an 800 MHz processor, DivX playback, Bluetooth, 3G HSPDA and Wifi connectivity, 3 MegaPixel camera and a full suite of Google services all in one device, for under Php 15,000 -- I reckon only the terribly 'kuripot' (unreasonably thrifty) would feel bad about making the purchase and taking Spica home.

Please stay tuned for TP's full review of Samsung Galaxy Spica coming in week's time.
