Thinkpad X100e - Lenovo's Netbook Killer - Specs , Price , Promo Video - Available in Midnight Black, Heatwave Red and Arctic White

"[...] It's a netbook killer for business."

This is how David Hill, Vice President of Lenovo Brand Management & Design Team, describes the new Lenovo Thinkpad X100e :

Thinkpad X100e is available in Midnight Black, Heatwave Red and Arctic White

X100e's island-style chiclet keyboard

Interestingly, although X100e bears the genes of the new Thinkpad Edge (chiclet keyboard, non-Black lid), it doesn't fall under that line and remains a classic X-series release -- A fact that seems to confuse hardcore Thinkpad Classic fans.

Sal of Geek.com, however, offered a possible explanation:

One thing that confuses me–why isn’t the X100e an Edge? It seems to me that this decision could have gone either way.

The X100e shares much of the Edge DNA, and it has the new keyboard and red coloring. Plus, the X series already had the 12-inch X200, creating more than a bit of overlap with the two products. The X series distinction was probably chosen to make it clear that the X100e is enterprise-friendly and let people remember that it does share more than a bit of design language with the X series. It does bring the X series an AMD-powered computer though (the first ever) and an ultraportable with what looks to be lackluster battery life.

Thinkpad X100e will hit the market in February or March 2010 with 3 CPU options: AMD Neo MV-40, AMD Neo X2 L335 and AMD Turion Neo X2 L625 ( How does the single-core AMD Neo compare against Intel Atom ? Read about it HERE. ) and these standard specs:

11.6″ widescreen matte display @ 1366×768 pixels - 16:10 ratio
ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU
supports up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM
160GB / 250GB / 320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
Optional 3G Gobi 2000 3G module with GPS
3 USB 2.0 ports
4-in-1 card reader
Li-Ion Battery: 3-cell (2 hours of battery life) or 6 cell (5 hours)

When it comes out, X100e with base specs will run for $449 or around Php 21,000 with current conversion, before taxes.

Stay tuned for updates on Thinkpad X100e's availability in the Philippines.

UPDATE: Lenovo Thinkpad X100e will be released in the Philippines this February 2010. It will come with a price tag of Php 28,990 with base specs. Totally not bad for a Thinkpad, which usually run for no less than Php 110,000 for the T-Series, Php 100,000 for the Classic X series and roughly Php 50,000 for the consumer and SME lines.

  3. I have gone all over the World Wide Web in search of a detailed photo of the Arctic White version of the X100e. In addition, I would like to know if the inside of the Arctic White version is also white or it is Black like the others. I purchased one at a local retail store with AMD Neo MV-40 and am not please with the performance. CPU is very slow. Now I am going to order one directly from Lenovo with AMD Turion Neo X2 L625. Hopefully this CPU is much faster.
